Wayne Bennett is a self-taught artist with a professional background in graphics, photography and education, haphazardly. A lifelong resident of New Mexico, Wayne now resides in Chontales, Costa Rica.

Art in earnest took hold during the DIY ‘zine scene of the late ‘70s. Pop culture, comic books, film and music inspired his artwork. Along with a merry band of ne’er do wells, they self-published and distributed art/comic ‘zines.

This led to various careers involving commercial printing and professional photography, leading to a 25 year stretch of fine art/pinhole photographs. In 2014 he abandoned the repeated image and turned to painting. Initially acrylic and mixed media on canvas, he’s now working with pastel. A gentler medium for a kind eye and softer voice brought on by pacific living. He hopes to present a newfound curiosity of the nature that surrounds.
