An oil painting from my time in Guatemala. I loved living in the highlands around Lake Atitlan. All of my senses were expanded by the vegetation, flora and life in the tropics. A large papaya cut in half to eat would suddenly pause. I just had to paint the composition laid out before I scooped out the seeds and ate the luscious fruit. I devoured it with my eyes.... often grabbing whatever canvas was at hand, sometimes painting over unresolved past attempts that peek through, such as in this particular piece.
