Red Mills

Chasing a dream, held since the age of 12, Red Mills arrived in Costa Rica seven years ago to “just have a proper look”, as she says in her delightful English-accent.  “Costa Rica’s magic has been whispering to me in my imagination for years and I decided it was time to come and see for myself why.”  Two weeks after her arrival, Covid also arrived and she and her partner were unexpectedly plunged into a new, and unexpected, life.

Inspired by her new life on a secluded mountain farm with spectacular views across the Talamanca range, Red found both the time and the inspiration to paint.   Costa Rica awakened a dormant creativity and along with growing and harvesting their own food and local dog rescue and humanitarian projects, painting has become a passion that has captivated her completely.

“Painting has brought me so much joy, like a meditation where I can lose myself, leaving the world behind for a little while.  If something that brings me as much joy as painting, can enable me to also make a meaningful difference by helping to support projects that matter to me, then wow, how wonderful is that!” states Red.

Those who purchase Red’s art will become a part of making a difference as this enables the artist to donate to human dignity and animal welfare causes in Costa Rica for any work purchased through the Galería.
