Infusing nature with artistic illusion, Lauren Karp's abstract works invite viewers to perceive the world through an unexpected lens. Raised in the picturesque countryside of Pennsylvania, Lauren spent her childhood amidst lush fields, meandering creeks, and scenic farmlands. Inspired by this backdrop, she pursued many self-taught forms of creative expression, including painting, calligraphy, and clothing design.

Equipped with her creative background and a BA in Marketing and Management, Lauren became an Art Director for a global fine art print and poster company, licensing the works of world-renowned artists and photographers. In 2011, her love of art and nature and her passion for photography converged when she began exploring scenic locations with her camera at her side.

Lauren’s surroundings fuel her artistic process. When not shooting on location, she calls both Nashville, TN, and Dominical, Costa Rica, home and draws inspiration from the contrasting landscapes she inhabits—from the vibrant energy of Nashville and the rolling hills of Tennessee to the serene beauty of tropical rainforests and coastlines.

After years of photographing wildlife in various habitats, Lauren began experimenting with the intentional movement technique to capture the essence of her surroundings. These unique images feature her abstract landscapes, which blur the boundaries between reality and fantasy. Using digital tools to deconstruct and reconstruct each original photograph, Lauren creates intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and unexpected forms in her abstract photographs. She named this body of work the Imaginature™ Collection.

In her Imaginature in Motion™ productions, Lauren dynamically transforms her still images into audiovisual performances accompanied by original musical compositions.

Lauren works with curators, designers, and stakeholders to create unique large-scale public art installations using her Imaginature™ images. Several of her pieces are permanently displayed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and in private collections in the U.S. and abroad.
