John grew up in rural Colorado with a passion for everything outdoors. He moved to Costa Rica 21 years ago to pursue his passion for sport fishing, and completed 18 years as a professional charter captain - logging over 40,000 hours on the water. At the same time, it reignited a hobby of woodworking, with an emphasis on salvaged woods. John has now been a full-time woodworker for the past 3 years, creating unique one of a kind designs highlighting the natural beauty of live edge slabs. He has been married to fellow Galeria 1084 artist Seidy Montero for the past 20 years.
