Jacques Hervot

San Jose

Artist Statement

Hervot creates from a place of wonder — a life well-lived, a heart wide open, and hands that never stopped building, shaping, and dreaming. For the past 27 years, he has been creating art — a joyful daily practice that feels less like work and more like oxygen. For Hervot, to create is to be alive. His studio is filled with music, long hours of experimentation, and materials rich with history — weathered woods, carved textures, recycled objects layered into 3D puzzles of color, memory, and meaning. Originally from France, Hervot arrived in Costa Rica after years of sailing the world with his wife — chasing adventure until they found a new life waiting for them on these shores. Costa Rica became the place to plant roots, raise a family, and continue his journey as both an artist and a dreamer. His work radiates harmony and reverence — guided by intuition, inspired by nature, and deeply shaped by his own life experiences. Each piece is layered with memory and meaning — created in flow, always accompanied by music, and often named after the songs that fill his studio during its making. Galleria 1084 is honored to welcome Hervot — an artist whose work feels like a reflection of his life: full, grateful, and joyfully in motion. His creations invite us in — not just to see, but to feel, to pause, and to remember that beauty often comes from the most unexpected places.
